Attending a Track Day is a hugely exciting experience, but if it's your first time, you might be scratching your head trying to figure out what to take. Many circuits will have items, such as helmets to hire, but there are some essentials you won't want to forget on the day.
Feel free to use this as a checklist to help you get organised ahead of your Track Day - after all, there's nothing worse than realising you've left something important at home.
- Driving Licence - possibly one of the most important things to not forget. You will need this to register before your Track Day and can't complete the experience without it.
- Helmet - if you have a helmet that complies with the Motorsport UK /ACU technical & safety regulations please bring it with you, if not, you can usually hire one from the track on the day but you'll need to check beforehand.
- Comfortable clothes - long sleeves and trousers, or anything that covers your arms and legs alongside shoes you are comfortable to drive in.
- Gloves - not a necessity, but can make gripping the steering wheel for long periods far more comfortable.
- Break fluid - this should be topped up before getting to the track, but there's no harm in bringing some with you in case of any brake bleeding.
- Tyre pressure gauge - your tyres will be taking some wear and tear on the day, so it's always handy to have one on hand to check your tyre pressure is healthy.
- Tyre pump - your tyres are bound to change throughout the day as they heat up and cool down and you may need to pump them up before heading home.
- Extra fuel - some circuits will have the facilities to refuel your car, but not all. If you can, take some extra fuel with you in case you need it as you'll be surprised at just how much you get through.
- Towing eye - your car will have been fitted with one from new so you should have one. These have to be fitted to the front of your vehicle for the Track Day.
- Water and snacks - it's thirsty work driving around a track! There will usually be on site facilities, however, you might want some quick refreshments in between wait times.
This should give you an idea of what to take, but the two essential items are your driving licence and your car which you cannot complete the day without! You can use this list as additional suggestions for items you might want to possibly take with you, to make the day run smoothly.
If you have any further questions about facilities available at the venue, we would advise getting in touch with them directly as TrackDays have no presence on the day.
